This term Years 7-10 students have been busy preparing and practising their persuasive speeches for our annual Speak Off competition. The categories for 2024 were: The Word Would be a Better Place, The Most Influential Person of My Generation, Exploring New Horizons and Famous Last Words.
From these, students creaated their own topics to persuade. Teachers selected a representative from each class to compete in the final, held at the Naracoorte High School Library on Tuesday 11th June from 7pm. The event was judged by Mrs Monique Crossling, Mr Zach Pope and Mrs Bel Beggs. Congratulations to all students who participated, but a special mention of our winners:
Year 7: Harrison Andrews, speaking on The World Would be a Better Place with less technology to bridge the generational vocabulary gap.
Year 8: Grace Law, speaking on The World Would be a Better Place with more environmental awareness.
Year 9: Imogen Martyn, speaking on The World Would be a Better Place with no sexism.
Year 10: Mia McCarthy, speaking on Exploring New Horizons through artificial organ production.
A further congratulations goes to Imogen Martyn who was the overall event winner.
