Recently, students from Years 9–12 took part in the “This is Now” art competition, proudly hosted by Penola High School.
The event celebrated creativity and self-expression, showcasing the incredible talent of young artists in our region .
We are thrilled to announce that Jasmine Dawson was named the overall winner with her artwork Hawk. Jasmine’s piece impressed the judges with its originality and skill.
Honourable mentions were also awarded to Addi Bell for “Thank You for the Music” and Alyssa Bennier for “Nobody’s Perfect”.
Congratulations to all students who entered for their outstanding effort and artistic expression.
The following comments are from the competition judges about the exhibition: “We loved the variety of media utilised, and loved the different interpretations to the challenge of creating a work that represent you as an artist, at this point in time.
Everything that is on display is encouraging to the arts community that the future of art is in an exciting place. We loved the variety, the amount of hard work clearly on display, the imagination in each piece, is all great.
They are all good art pieces and show interesting representations and expression. If we had the time, we would provide energy, praise, and constructive feedback to each and every single one, as there is something great in all of them.
We made our choices just as much about the ideas of the expression, as well as what was actually expressed. A lot of the art speaks to us as similar in thought, concept, and ideas for own creations. Which made it even harder to judge!”
